Education
A complex web of issue cause lower literacy rates. But probably the most common is lack of primary education infrastructure and facilities. In the year 2006-07 Pilibhit district had 1,078 government primary schools and 360 upper primary schools. Most of the primary schools are single room and single teacher schools. As a result, the schools do not offer the children an atmosphere for learning. Moreover, there is a complete lack of awareness among a section of people for education of their children.
SEVAK is intervening in education sector through two strategies. One, it is running two formal schools by the name of New Montessori School and HH Krishak Higher Secondary School for dropout childrens, it is creating awareness among the masses, particularly Dalits & Backward Muslims for education of their children in their mother tongue.
